Saturn is… fine. like objectively, scientifically, yes it’s impressive. i’m not denying that. i just think it knows it gets too much attention.
the rings are the obvious thing. they’re huge, made of ice and rock, and actually insanely thin compared to their width like in some places only about 10 meters thick, which is kind of ridiculous for something that looks so massive. and they’re not permanent either, which i think people forget. they’re slowly disappearing, meaning Saturn won’t even have its whole main character feature forever.
but beyond the rings (yes, i’m moving on), Saturn is actually really low density so low that if you could somehow put it in a giant ocean, it would float. which sounds fake, but it’s not.
and then there’s its moon Titan, which honestly steals the spotlight a bit. it has lakes and rivers not of water, but of liquid methane and ethane. so Saturn’s whole system is doing weird chemistry experiments while Saturn itself just… spins there looking pretty.
i guess that’s my issue with Saturn. it’s beautiful, sure, but in a very obvious way. like it doesn’t make you work for it the way Uranus or Neptune do. but fine. scientifically speaking, it’s still incredible and beautiful. just… a little overrated...
