wormholes are either genius or completely unhinged
I need to talk about wormholes again because the more i learn about them, the less normal reality feels.
ever since i learned that physics doesn’t just allow wormholes but actually PREDICTS them, i haven’t been able to stop thinking about what they really are just shortcuts through space, or something way bigger.

okay so wormholes sound like one simple idea shortcuts through spacetime but depending on how you look at them, they get very different (and very weird).
the first way is the “classic” physics version: wormholes as bridges within our own universe. basically, spacetime can curve so much that two distant points connect through a tunnel-like structure. these are often called Einstein-Rosen bridges, and they come straight out of general relativity. the catch (because there’s always a catch) is that they’d collapse instantly unless you had something called exotic matter to hold them open, stuff with negative energy density, which we’ve never actually found in a usable way. so mathematically allowed, physically… questionable.
the second idea is where things get even more chaotic: wormholes as connections between different universes. if the multiverse is real whether through inflation creating separate “bubble universes” or quantum many worlds then a wormhole might not just link two places, but two entirely different realities. like, not just traveling across space, but crossing into a completely separate version of existence with different initial conditions (and maybe different versions of you, which is mildly terrifying).
what’s wild is that both of these ideas come from trying to take our current theories seriously. one stays (mostly) within general relativity, the other starts mixing in quantum mechanics and cosmology, and suddenly wormholes go from “shortcut” to “cosmic doorways.”
are either of these actually possible? honestly, we don’t know. right now they live somewhere between solid math and speculative physics. but the fact that our equations even hint at these possibilities is enough to keep me thinking about them way too late at night. so yeah. wormholes: either impossible tunnels through space, or portals to entirely different universes. casual.

naturally, after thinking way too much about wormholes, my brain decided to spiral into quantum physics. which is honestly worse.
wormholes might just be mathematical weirdness we never actually use, or they could be hints that reality is way bigger and stranger than we’re currently able to understand. either way, i kind of love that we’re even able to ask these questions.
i don’t have answers (no one really does), but that’s kind of the point. the more i learn, the more it feels like we’re just scratching the surface of something way bigger and weirder than we can fully understand.
try not to fall into any hypothetical wormholes :)
most random link ever, idk maybe one day I`ll start a podcast...
